basefit.ch was the leading fitness discount provider in Switzerland. The company was founded in 2008 and operated 33 fitness centers with around 70,000 active members at the time Verium sold the company in 2018.
During Verium’s three-year holding period, it opened 27 fitness centers and multiplied both revenue and operating income. The company followed a proactive growth strategy (organically and through M&A) with a vision of becoming the leading quality discounter on the Swiss fitness market. Although prices are in the discount range, the infrastructure and especially the state-of-the-art fitness equipment offer first-class training conditions.
When Verium came on board in 2015, it was convinced that basefit.ch was optimally positioned as the first discount fitness provider in Switzerland to gain additional market shares and benefit from the persistent fitness lifestyle and discount trends. At the end of 2018, basefit.ch was successfully sold to Fitness World, the leading Danish fitness club operator with 500,000 members, which was at that time owned by FSN Capital.
