Why I Chose Verium

An Interview with Dominique Wohnlich

Marc Erni, Partner Direct Investments bei Verium AG

About Dominique Wohnlich

After many years in senior positions within international finance and private markets, Dominique Wohnlich is beginning a new chapter at Verium. In this interview, he discusses the reasons behind his move, what convinced him about Verium’s independent and entrepreneurial model, and the opportunities he sees for both clients and the firm.

Q: What convinced you to take the next step in your career and join Verium?

Dominique Wohnlich: What attracted me most to Verium is its combination of independence, entrepreneurial culture, and broad expertise. Verium is neither a traditional wealth manager nor a bank. Instead, it is a platform that brings together wealth management, family office services, private markets, direct investments, and real estate under one roof. This breadth creates the opportunity to support clients not only in individual investment matters but across their entire wealth situation with a long-term and entrepreneurial perspective.

After many years in large international financial institutions, I am also drawn to the closer client relationships and the direct impact of one’s work. At Verium, personal relationships, trust, transparency, and tailored solutions are at the center. This aligns strongly with my understanding of wealth advisory: it is not about products, but about long-term partnerships, a genuine understanding of the goals and values of entrepreneurial families, and solutions that stand the test of time across market cycles.

Q: Why now

Dominique Wohnlich: For me, the timing is right because the needs of many wealthy families and entrepreneurs have changed significantly in recent years. Today, many are no longer looking primarily for a traditional banking relationship. Instead, they seek an independent sparring partner who consistently represents their interests, can integrate multiple asset classes, and understands complex issues such as private markets, real estate, reporting, liquidity planning, and succession planning in a holistic way.

In my view, Verium is exceptionally well positioned to deliver exactly that: an independent multi-family office owned by its partners and employees, supported by a professional investment process and an experienced team. At the same time, Verium is entrepreneurial enough to act quickly, pragmatically, and in close proximity to its clients. This combination of a professional platform and a personal, entrepreneurial culture is rare.

On a personal level, it was also important that after my time in international organizations, I was consciously not looking for another corporate role. I wanted to help build something where my experience, network, and entrepreneurial energy could have a direct impact. At Verium, I see exactly that opportunity.

Q: What role do personal relationships and trust play in wealth management today, and how has that changed over time?

Q: Which experience from your career will be most valuable in your new role at Verium?

Dominique Wohnlich: Personal relationships and trust have always been important in wealth management, but their significance has increased. Clients today are better informed, more critical, and often more demanding. They expect more than market access or financial products. They want a partner who truly understands their individual situation, aligns interests appropriately, and communicates transparently.

In the past, the institution often played a more prominent role within the client relationship. Today, the quality of the personal relationship has become more important again: Who listens? Who understands the family and entrepreneurial context? Who is willing to take long-term responsibility? Particularly for entrepreneurial families or families after a business sale, the conversation often extends beyond performance to governance, values, wealth preservation, succession, independence, and security.

Trust is not created by size or brand recognition alone. It is built through consistency, integrity, and transparent decision-making. This is where I see a significant advantage for Verium.

Dominique Wohnlich: Throughout my career, I have gained exposure to different perspectives within the financial industry: private equity and private markets, wealth management, leadership of larger organizations, and advising demanding clients in an international environment. The combination of these experiences is particularly valuable.

From my time in the private equity fund industry, I bring a deep understanding of private markets, manager selection, institutional investment processes, and longterm portfolio construction. From my leadership roles in wealth management, I understand the needs of entrepreneurs, families, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. And from my CEO positions, I have learned the importance of culture, clear positioning, team leadership, and credible growth.

At Verium, I can bring all of these experiences together. The objective is to deepen existing client relationships, attract new clients and investors, and further strengthen Verium’s position as an independent and entrepreneurial partner for sophisticated wealth-related matters.

Q: Was unterscheidet dieses zweite Continuation Vehicle vom ersten?

Q: What appeals to you most about this new role?

Dominique Wohnlich: What excites me most is the opportunity to actively help build and shape the future of Verium. The firm already has a strong foundation: a professional team, a clear investment DNA, a compelling track record, and a credible positioning as an independent multi-family office.

At the same time, there is significant potential to expand this platform further. Many entrepreneurial families are looking for exactly the combination of services that Verium offers. Bringing that story more clearly to the market and translating it into growth is a highly exciting challenge.

I am also attracted by the partnership-driven culture. It is fundamentally different to work in an organization where responsibility, ownership, and long-term thinking are not just buzzwords, but are embedded in the business model itself.

Q: What would you like to help shape at Verium in the coming years?

Dominique Wohnlich: I would like to contribute to the next phase of Verium’s growth. A key priority will be expanding our network of clients and investors, particularly entrepreneurial families, single-family offices, and affluent individuals seeking truly independent and holistic advice.

Growth for growth’s sake is not the goal. What matters is that growth remains consistent with Verium’s culture, quality standards, and market positioning. I want to help make business development more systematic and create even stronger collaboration across Verium’s various areas of expertise.

Another important focus is market positioning. Verium’s strengths should become even more visible and tangible for relevant client groups. If we succeed in developing the platform with the same care that Verium applies to investments and client relationships today, I see tremendous potential ahead.

Closing Remarks

Dominique Wohnlich joining Verium represents the next stage of development for both sides. Dominique brings extensive leadership experience, a strong network, and deep expertise in wealth management and private markets. In return, Verium provides an independent, entrepreneurial platform where he can apply his experience directly and actively contribute to the firm’s next phase of growth.

At the heart of this partnership is a shared understanding of wealth stewardship: independent, personal, transparent, and long-term oriented. This combination is what makes Verium relevant to entrepreneurial families and sophisticated private clients, and it forms the foundation for the firm’s continued development.
